This book is so insightful I’m spinning with next steps.
The common idea that success is purely because of someone’s own genius is proven flawed by this book.
The overarching idea is that success is due to a mix of factors, few earned but most of them given, as in, a privilege that a person was lucky enough to receive. E.g;
- when & where you were born
- what you were born as; gender, skin color
- cultural inheritance
- parents parenting style
- and the list goes on,
Those above are things an individual does not have any influence over but plays a huge factor to how far they will go in life.
But it doesn’t end in a gloomy #fml. Actually, because of this understanding of how certain opportunities influence a person’s chance of success, we can consciously create these opportunities for more people so not just a lucky few reach the stars.
Recommended for: people trying to understand factors outside them that are limiting their success so they can start changing them, people building teams or raising kids, people that just want to build a better world.
What do you think about this short book review?
Would love to hear both contradicting or validating thoughts on this!
